Performance &

Education

Reimagined.

A new take on an old tradition. Bowed Arts is the future of string music in performance, education and composition.

What Do We Do?

Working with major brands like Sephora, tiff, SOHO House, productions like The Junos, Canada’s Got Talent & Canada’s Walk of Fame, international artists like Kygo, Ed Sheeran and The Arkells, Bowed Arts is quickly becoming the go-to collective for headlining and supporting live events, recording sessions, product launches and tours.

Who Are We?

While we are immensely proud of our entirely female identifying group, we are first and foremost highly trained and experienced professionals. We are the string players quadruple threats - Performers, composers, arrangers and educators.

What We Do

  • Performance

Whether it be a rooftop product launch, an intimate candlelit dinner on a beach or stadium show, Bowed Arts has got you covered.

We regularly partner with brands, bands and artists to bring an extra level of sparkle to live events.

Our most recent partners include The Sheraton Hotels, tiff, The Shagri-La Hotels and SOHO House.

  • Education

Outside of our busy performance and tour schedule we operate a community school for strings based in Toronto, ON.

Our students range in age from 3 to 85. Some have gone on to be recording artists, orchestra players and teachers themselves.

  • Recording & Composition

We function as a full in house composition and creation group. We have composed and arranged music for film and tv. Clients have included CBC, Canada Goose and Rogers Communications.

We also work directly with artists and record labels. We’ve contributed to countless albums as both players and composers.

Bowed Arts Educational Mission Statement

Together we’re setting out to reimagine string education. It IS possible to make learning the violin, viola, cello and bass not only relevant to 2022 but also fun, engaging, inspiring and accessible.

Technique and discipline are integral to every genre of music. While our foundation remains in Suzuki our approach begins with inspiration. We will keep the best of Beethoven and Bach alongside Beyoncé, B.B. King and the Beatles. There’s a whole world of music out there and we want to help our students discover it.

We are striving to be as low barrier and as inclusive as possible by introducing a community-based payment structure. We look at inclusivity and equity as an ongoing process; where we begin does not determine our destination. As people and teachers, we acknowledge our biases and are prepared to take ownership of missteps. We welcome the opportunity to correct ourselves and learn alongside our students and their grown-ups.

Ultimately we want to make the bowed instrument world a little friendlier for all.
